There are also toothpastes in powder form to mix into food.
And the third option for kibble-shaped treats is Dentalife, sold in all major supermarkets. It comes in salmon or chicken flavor.
I have some for my three kids, they're 4 years old and don't have tartar buildup, so it seems to be working. 😊
With our cats, we have to find solutions with milder flavors, or they won't eat anything. 😢

Thank you Fakirj and Pauletted59 for your replies. It's always appreciated!

Vet's report: Copain does indeed have tartar on his teeth and gingivitis. So he's on antibiotics.
The vet told me that all his teeth needed to be pulled. I said no.
No, because:
1. My buddy survived a long period of neglect before I picked him up, thin as a rail, barely holding on to his skeleton, and managed to get him back in shape.
2. Copain has suffered enough without inflicting further digestive and dietary problems on him.
3. Copain, despite his FIV being detected at the time of his adoption, shows no signs of it.
4. Copain underwent painful ear surgery following cancer caused by excessive sun exposure when he was abandoned, and he recovered very well. He is even resilient.
5. My friend is doing well. He is 13 or 14 years old with a well-controlled and dormant IVF.
6. At no point does total tooth extraction seem useful to me, even though it will complicate his life.
What do you think, Fakirj?
