It's okay, it's a little swollen but no infection... No courage today, I just fiddled around the plant pots with gloves! So, a boring day... just going around in circles. It really annoys me when I'm not motivated to do anything! And still too hot, no rain, very humid. Tomorrow is another day. The fishmonger comes to the village and I'm going to make a nice cod stew for Mom and me. Some rain is forecast, possibly thunderstorms at the end of the week. I vote for Capri and Pierrotcolombine. No rain yesterday or today, but temperatures have dropped considerably today after Friday's storm. I was able to stock up on some water.
So, it was the right time to shred all the branches prepared on Friday and Saturday after cutting down the large wood that will go in the fireplace in winter 2028. But there is wood from my Agen plum tree that I may also use to make furniture or turned objects.
Yesterday, Sunday, it was hot and the mosquitoes didn't stop, day or night! We still worked in the woods to prepare them for chipping this Monday. Mom and I are covered in bites despite all the products, the ultrasonic bracelets... tough! So this morning, I thoroughly weeded all my flowerbeds, watered them well before putting down the mulch this afternoon. We almost finished in record time because my mom (89 years old, mind you) was passing me the branches so quickly and I was chipping so fast. I got tired after two hours and said we had to stop. Have some tea. NO, we have to finish, she said. OK... well, bam, plum trees are hard to chip. I got a V-shaped cut from two branches that popped out of the machine between my index and middle fingers. Despite the gloves, it hurt, and they went in pretty deep between my fingers. So we stopped. There was so much blood gushing out that I got scared. Good disinfection, strips and arnica montana. We made tea and I was very glad to stop and put everything away... until tomorrow. Warm, no rain... but I still cut the wood on the ground with a Japanese saw (chainsaw forbidden) and stacked it. That'll give me firewood for the winter. I would like to be able to shred the remaining small branches before leaving at the end of August. But we'll see.
